Milan Transfer Market: Reijnders’ Move to Manchester City Falls Through; Unexpected Sum on the Way for the Rossoneri

Milan could soon receive an unexpected windfall from the Premier League. According to Sky, the Saudi club Al-Qadsiah is in advanced negotiations with Manchester City regarding the transfer of Tijjani Reijnders to the Middle East.

The Dutch midfielder, who arrived in Manchester last season, hasn’t particularly stood out in the Premier League, and the Citizens have decided to sell him this summer to secure a significant sum to reinvest. The player is also being targeted by Nottingham Forest and will have to decide his future in the coming days.

If Reijnders’ transfer goes through, Milan would earn approximately 10 million euros. This is because in the summer of 2025, the Rossoneri sold the player for a fixed fee of 55 million euros plus 15 million in bonuses, of which 5 million has already been received thanks to City’s mathematical qualification for the 2026–2027 Champions League. The remaining 10 million were originally tied to long-term objectives, but with a forward-looking clause: in the event of an early transfer before 2030, the English club must immediately pay Milan all remaining bonuses.

Milan is thus set to receive a substantial sum that it could immediately reinvest in the transfer market: there is no shortage of targets for Ruben Amorim’s team. The Milan side is specifically looking for a center back (Sporting’s Gonçalo Inácio is the favorite) and an attacking midfielder: in recent days, Roma’s Matias Soulé has been mentioned. Milan is also seeking a world-class midfielder. The Milan club’s transfer team is now primarily focused on outgoing transfers: Santiago Gimenez and Youssouf Fofana could soon leave Milanello.
