Juventus is stepping up its efforts to sign Joshua Zirkzee. The Manchester United forward is at the top of the list of candidates to bolster Luciano Spalletti’s squad, but there are still obstacles to closing the deal.

First and foremost is the stance of the Red Devils, who have agreed to loan the player to Italy, but only with a mandatory buyout clause that can be triggered under certain conditions. The player’s own opinion also needs to be gauged; according to rumors, he would prefer to stay in the Premier League, hoping to convince Michael Carrick to give him a chance to work his way up the ranks. The third hurdle concerns the sale of Jonathan David: the Canadian forward seemed very close to joining Aston Villa, but the Premier League club has not yet sealed the deal, and until the former Lille player leaves, the Old Lady cannot sign anyone for the attack. The hope is that PSG will step in, as they had inquired about him in recent days.

In defense, some departures are on the horizon: following the signing of Lucumí, Federico Gatti is packing his bags. Several Serie A clubs, as well as Premier League teams, have made inquiries by contacting the Turin-based club, and news could come soon. Juventus is ready to evaluate offers for the former Frosinone player. Among the clubs that have made inquiries in recent weeks is Massimiliano Allegri’s Napoli, which is looking for defensive reinforcements following injuries to Marianucci and Buongiorno. The Neapolitans are said to have evaluated the Juventus defender’s profile, whom the club values at around 25 million euros. A sale of Gatti at that price would represent a significant capital gain for Juventus.

The goalkeeper situation also needs to be resolved: after weeks of back-and-forth over Zion Suzuki, Juventus appears to have definitively abandoned the pursuit of the Japanese goalkeeper, who is about to join PSG and will not be loaned out to an Italian club. At this point, Juventus is turning its attention to the other candidate they’ve been tracking in recent weeks, Guglielmo Vicario, who is set to leave Tottenham.
