Avellino Transfer Market: Nesta Sets His Sights on Monza and Reggio Emilia for Midfield Reinforcements
Avellino was knocked out of the Coppa Italia right away by Monza, but the tournament was certainly not a priority for the team led by Alessandro Nesta this season. The Irpini’s focus is already on the league: next Saturday at the Partenio, the ambitious Arezzo—newly promoted to Serie B—will visit for the opening match of the 2026–2027 season. Before the season opener, however, there will be eight crucial days on the transfer front, during which management will try to finalize the roster.
Particular attention is being paid to the midfield, a position for which several players are under consideration. Among the names being tracked are Berenbruch and Girma, although there is strong competition from Juve Stabia for the latter. Licina, Chipperfield, and Galazzi also remain on the radar. Galazzi saw little playing time on Friday at the Brianteo, where Ivan Juric gave him only a few minutes—a situation that could further fuel rumors of a possible transfer.
As for Berenbruch, the Inter midfielder is one of the players who most captures the imagination of Avellino fans. The Nerazzurri have great faith in the young Milanese talent, but they might consider loaning him out to ensure he gets regular playing time and to support his development—an arrangement that could be a good fit for Avellino. As for Girma, competition from Juve Stabia is real: the Campania-based club, which has already officially announced the signings of Justin Kumi from Sassuolo and Federico Artioli from Mantova, is working hard to secure the Reggiana midfielder.
Monza’s moves in the coming hours are also worth keeping an eye on: the Brianza-based club, grappling with Matteo Pessina’s serious injury—he dislocated the patella in his right knee and will be sidelined until November or December—is forced to act urgently in the transfer market. Paradoxically, this scenario could open up some opportunities for Avellino: a Monza forced to operate on multiple fronts might be more willing to let go of players currently on the fringes of Juric’s plans, such as Galazzi.
On the other hand, the Monza coach has already made his position clear during a press conference following the Coppa Italia match: “We’re making various moves—a small revolution,” Juric stated, hinting that Monza’s transfer activity is far from over. These are words that Avellino’s management will be following very closely in the coming hours, in the hope of seizing some last-minute opportunities before their season opener against Arezzo.
