For the second time in just a few days, a Bayern Munich match was marked by moments of concern, once again due to a medical incident that caused Jamal Musiala to briefly lose consciousness while on the field: The friendly match against Heidenheim lasted just eight minutes for the 23-year-old German national team player before a fainting spell—similar to the one he experienced on August 15 against Leipzig—forced him to leave the field.

On his social media profiles, Musiala (who hadn’t spoken since the game against Leipzig) tried to clarify what’s going on: “First and foremost: I’m fine,” the 2003-born player began. “I’m especially grateful for your messages and your support. I understand that many of you have been worried; I’d like to put your fears to rest and explain what’s happening: I’ve been experiencing brief, temporary—but easily treatable—blackouts caused by a neurological disorder.”

“These can lead to the episodes you’ve seen recently, such as against Leipzig or Heidenheim,” he explained. “I know they may seem scary at first glance, but for me they’re part of everyday life. I’m receiving the best possible medical care, and I’m optimistic. Bayern and my family are always by my side and support me on this journey.”

“It’s important to emphasize that there is no health risk,” Musiala added. I’m working through this situation with experts, and with the neurologists’ approval, I can continue to focus on what helps me most in my recovery: living my daily life normally and continuing to play soccer.”

“I’ve taken responsibility for this. I’m feeling positive and am heading in the right direction. What helps me most is continuing to chase victories and titles alongside my team, with your extraordinary support. I hope this helps you understand me better. At the same time, I ask for your understanding if I continue to discuss this matter only with those closest to me—the club and the experts,” the Bayern player concluded.
