Milan and Roma are in talks to put together a spectacular deal in these final weeks of the summer transfer window. The Rossoneri are interested in the Giallorossi’s attacking midfielder Matias Soulé: the Argentine isn’t a key part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans, but Ruben Amorim is very fond of him and sees him fitting well into the system he’ll be implementing for the Rossoneri this season.

According to reports, talks are intensifying, and super-agent Jorge Mendes is said to be pulling the strings. The Giallorossi have valued Soulé at 35 million euros plus bonuses, and in exchange, the Rossoneri could offer Christopher Nkunku. The French forward, who was passed over by Amorim during preseason training camp, is highly regarded by Gasperini for his versatility and could be the key to kickstarting the negotiations and the trade.

If the swap option falls through, Milan could still make a move for Soulé, but first they’ll have to sell Rafael Leao to raise the funds needed for their latest major signing in attack. Significant offers for the Portuguese player are expected from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, or a last-minute bid from a wealthy Premier League club.

Mendes’ role in this matter goes far beyond simply acting as a mediator for Soulé. The Portuguese super-agent, who has already helped bring Gonçalo Ramos and Diego Moreira to Milanello, is engaged in a series of talks with the Rossoneri management on multiple fronts. As for Leao, a sensational rumor has gained traction in recent hours that could lead to a move to Manchester City: Mendes, who represents both the Portuguese player and Ruben Dias, could orchestrate a swap deal between the two clubs. The Citizens’ center-back would be a top-tier reinforcement for Amorim’s defense, with a financial balance clearly in favor of the English side.
