Ligue 1 2026–2027: Olympique Marseille vs. Strasbourg, Probable Lineups

The 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season officially kicks off with the match between Olympique Marseille and Strasbourg, scheduled for 8:45 p.m. on Friday, August 21. Throwing a wrench in the works for PSG—champions in thirteen of the last fifteen seasons—is the main goal of the other big names in French soccer: OM is among them, even though the Marseille club hasn’t won a title since way back in 2010, well before the Parisians’ dominance.
Olympique Marseille has played five friendly matches this preseason: after a decisive loss in their season opener on July 25 against Nice (3-0), they followed up with wins on July 30 against Nîmes (2-1), on August 5 against Al-Shananiya (3-0), and on August 9 against Athletic Bilbao (3-1). On the eve of Ferragosto, they played—and lost—their most recent match against Atlético Madrid: a 2-1 victory for the Colchoneros, who managed to come back from Paixao’s goal with strikes from Mendoza and Martín.
Strasbourg, a semifinalist in last season’s Conference League, had a preseason with few bright spots in terms of results, suffering six losses in seven matches: the heaviest was a 7-0 defeat against the Portuguese side Sporting, followed by a 0-2 loss to Blackburn, a 3-4 loss to Brighton, a 2-5 loss to Elversberg, and two 0-2 losses to Freiburg in a unique “doubleheader” held on August 8. The only highlight came on the 16th: a 3-2 victory on penalty kicks against Newcastle, following a 1-1 draw at the 90-minute mark (with Yassine scoring).
