2026-2027 Serie A: Atalanta vs. Sassuolo, Probable Lineups

Atalanta and Sassuolo will make their 2026–2027 Serie A debuts on Sunday evening at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo; kickoff is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. Sarri’s team is fighting for a spot in the Conference League in the playoffs against Hapoel Tel Aviv (the first leg in Bergamo ended 0-0) and is looking to bounce back after an underwhelming performance against the Israelis. Last Monday, however, the Neroverdi crushed Cesena 3-0 in the Coppa Italia, showing good form.
Scalvini has recovered in time for the match against Atalanta and could start from the 1st minute (Kristensen is out due to injury). Up front is the attacking trio of Zalewski, Scamacca, and Raspadori, with Gaetano in midfield flanked by Samardzic and Ederson. The wingback positions are manned by Zappacosta and Bernasconi.
Aquilani is fielding Bowie as center forward, with Volpato, Adzic, and Laurienté in the attacking midfield trio, while neither Berardi (injured) nor Pinamonti—who may leave the team soon—will be available. In midfield, Bakola will partner with Matic.
Atalanta vs. Sassuolo: Probable Lineups
ATALANTA (4-3-3): Carnesecchi; Zappacosta, Kossounou, Scalvini, Bernasconi; Samardzic, Gaetano, Ederson; Zalewski, Scamacca, Raspadori. Coach: Sarri
SASSUOLO (4-2-3-1): Muric; Cinquegrano, Odenthal, Macchioni, Doig; Bakola, Matic; Volpato, Adzic, Laurienté; Bowie. Head Coach: Aquilani
After the match against Hapoel, Sarri had this to say about his team’s performance: “We lack fluidity; we’re too hesitant, and we haven’t quite gelled yet. The team is organized; there are many positive aspects, but we need to improve in many others. We’re lacking something in the final 20 meters, but I’m happy that the team is trying to do what I ask of them. We’ll take it one game at a time—now we focus on the league, then we’ll think about the second leg. We’re still a work in progress.”
