Juventus Transfer Market: The Big Dream Fades—The Star Ends Up in England

Among the players Juventus was most interested in was Leon Goretzka, a seasoned midfielder who found himself without a team after his contract with Bayern Munich expired. Despite his hefty salary, the German star was considered an excellent addition by Luciano Spalletti, but the Bianconeri were unable to seal the deal, and Goretzka slipped away.

The former Bayern Munich player has, in fact, reached an agreement with Aston Villa and will fly to England in the coming hours to complete the paperwork that will tie him to the Villains. It appears that a phone call between Leon Goretzka and Unai Emery was decisive: the Lions’ manager managed to convince the star to turn down the extremely lucrative offers he received from Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Juventus is now stepping up efforts to finalize the signing of Franck Kessié, who is a free agent following his three-year stint at Al-Ahli. The former Milan player from Ivory Coast has received an offer from a Saudi club and has asked Juventus to make a suitable proposal in the coming hours: he doesn’t want to wait any longer.

Once the midfield is sorted out, Juventus will focus on the attack, where they need to make sales to make room for Joshua Zirzkee. The main candidates remain Jonathan David and Nico Gonzalez, but there are several obstacles slowing down the Old Lady’s negotiations.
The Canadian has turned down all offers from England (Hull City) and France (Rennes and Lens): he’s waiting for a major offer that hasn’t arrived yet. He didn’t perform well last season, and Spalletti doesn’t consider him absolutely indispensable.

Nico Gonzalez received a significant offer from Besiktas but decided to turn it down in order to wait for Atlético Madrid: the Colchoneros, confident that the Argentine is interested, are biding their time and want to wait until the final days of the transfer window to sign the former Fiorentina player on the best possible terms.
