Inter Transfer Market: Italian Clubs Are Cautious; Inter Sends Massolin to Troyes
Yanis Massolin is one of the young players who has caught Monza’s attention, although the Brianza-based club’s interest—as well as that of Frosinone—has not yet turned into actual negotiations. His future, however, seems destined to be away from Inter—at least for the time being: the Frenchman hasn’t even been assigned a jersey number, because Cristian Chivu, in agreement with the Nerazzurri club, believes it would be more beneficial to send him elsewhere so he can develop and get more playing time.
The former Modena player’s path has also been hampered by an injury sustained during the training camp in Germany, which forced him to sit out for a long time and prevented him from showcasing his talents. However, he has no shortage of admirers, especially in France. At least three Ligue 1 clubs, including Troyes, are reported to have already gathered information on the player. The possibility of a return to his home country could therefore gain momentum: Massolin would have the opportunity to accumulate playing time and experience, while Inter could monitor his development with the aim of increasing his market value.
It’s worth noting that the midfielder, born in 2002, was signed by Inter during the winter transfer window, when the Nerazzurri officially announced his permanent transfer from Modena. The young player had impressed Inter’s management with his performances in Serie B, and the deal was announced alongside other major moves during the January transfer window. Among others rumored to be leaving the club during this transfer window are Kristjan Asllani and Idrissou, confirming that Chivu is making careful selections within a roster that needs to be trimmed down.
Massolin’s name had already been circulating persistently in recent weeks in connection with Monza, when the Brianza-based club was forced to deal with the serious injury to captain Matteo Pessina: a dislocated patella in his right knee that required surgery and will keep the midfielder off the field for about three or four months. This emergency prompted Ivan Juric’s club to urgently knock on Inter’s door, identifying the young player as one of the best candidates to fill the void left by their leader.
Juric himself, following the 4-1 loss at Inter on the opening day of the season, had clearly assessed his team’s situation: “The team needs to be strengthened in various positions on the field. I expect a great deal from the transfer market; if we want to avoid relegation, we must make moves in every area of the team.” These words make it clear that Massolin’s potential arrival in Brianza would not only be a welcome solution but almost a necessity, regardless of competition from French clubs.
