Monza Transfer Market: Ivan Juric Is Ready to Welcome the New Defensive Anchor

Monza continues to be very active in the transfer market and has added a new name to the list of players it is monitoring to strengthen its defense. The Brianza-based club’s management has turned its attention to Jan Ziolkowski, a Polish defender born in 2005 who is owned by Roma. According to Sky Sport, the 194-centimeter-tall center back has expressed openness to a transfer in order to secure more playing time, while still aiming to remain in Italy’s top flight.

The player’s willingness to leave Trigoria has immediately sparked interest from Monza, which intends to move decisively to secure a talent who, despite his young age, has already demonstrated character, physical build, and significant room for growth—enough to earn him three appearances for the Polish national team, two of which came in 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The proposed deal is a loan with an option to buy, a solution favored by the Brianza-based club because it allows them to bring in a promising prospect without immediate commitments, while still having the opportunity to evaluate his performance over the course of the season. This move is in line with Monza’s transfer strategies, agreed upon with head coach Ivan Juric.

Born in Warsaw on June 5, twenty-one years ago, Jan Ziolkowski came up through the youth systems of MKS Wicher Kobylka and Polonia Warsaw before joining Legia in 2022: at the prestigious capital club, he spent three seasons, alternating between the first and second teams, before moving to Roma in August 2025 for 6.6 million euros.

However, he hasn’t seen much playing time with the Giallorossi, making a total of 23 appearances across the league (18), the Europa League (4), and the Coppa Italia (1). The Rome-based club does not want to part ways with him, however: the idea of a loan allows them to evaluate the Polish player’s performance from a distance and then decide how to proceed next summer.
