Fiorentina Transfer News: Como Signs Moise Kean, the Numbers, and the Search for a Replacement
Cesc Fabregas has found his Champions League striker: after lengthy negotiations, Fiorentina and Como have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Moise Kean to the Como-based club.
The player, born in 2000, is leaving Tuscany for a total of 40 million euros—35 million in a fixed fee plus 5 million in bonuses tied to easily achievable conditions. Kean will compete for a starting spot with Como’s other striker, Douvikas; making room for him will be Álvaro Morata, who is leaving Italy for good to join La Liga (Leganés is the favorite destination).
Moise Kean leaves Fiorentina after 79 appearances and 35 goals, with a decidedly bitter ending: on Wednesday, the player arrived late at Viola Park for the session scheduled by Fabio Grosso and refused to train. This action prompted the club to fine him and seriously consider removing him from the roster, effectively accelerating the resolution of a situation that had become untenable for both parties.
Fiorentina is now working to find a replacement. Among the players Paratici is monitoring are Beto, a powerful forward born in 1998 who plays for Everton and previously played for Udinese; Emanuel Emegha, a 23-year-old Dutch center forward coming off a season with Strasbourg; and Matanovic of Freiburg. In recent hours, there has also been a surprise inquiry regarding Jonathan David, a Canadian forward currently on the fringes of Luciano Spalletti’s plans at Juventus: the main obstacle remains the player’s high salary, amounting to 6 million euros net per season.
Meanwhile, Como continues to be very active in the transfer market. At the same time it finalized the signing of Kean, the Larian club also closed the deal for Samuele Ricci with Milan: the midfielder, born in 2001, arrives on a paid loan for 2 million with an option to buy set at 22 million and a 1 million bonus, for a potential total of 25 million.
