Parma is also stepping up its transfer activity and focusing particularly on the midfield. Among the players gaining traction is Giovanni Fabbian, currently with Fiorentina and also being closely monitored by Sassuolo. Born in 2003, the Venetian joined Inter’s youth academy at age 15 before completing his development and making his Serie A debut with Bologna.

Fabbian arrived at Fiorentina during the January 2026 transfer window, acquired from Bologna on loan with an obligation to buy. The transfer was then finalized on a permanent basis for 15 million euros at the end of last season, once the Viola had mathematically secured their survival. This was a significant investment for a midfielder who, while at Bologna, had made 91 appearances across Serie A, the Coppa Italia, the Italian Super Cup, the Champions League, and the Europa League, scoring 11 goals and winning one Coppa Italia.

The player does not seem to be fitting into Fabio Grosso’s plans and could therefore change teams in the coming days. A decision on his future is expected shortly, with the two Emilia-Romagna clubs keeping a close eye on the situation, waiting for a sign.

Fabbian’s situation is part of a broader context of profound transformation within the Viola’s roster. During this summer transfer window, sporting director Fabio Paratici has already brought eleven players to Florence, including Christ Inao Oulaï, Arthur Atta, and Marco Brescianini from Atalanta, as well as several high-profile loan signings such as Franco Mastantuono and Álex Jiménez. Given this abundance of midfield talent, Fabbian’s playing time has inevitably dwindled, making his transfer a solution acceptable to all parties.

It should not be forgotten that Parma had already attempted to make decisive moves in the transfer market in recent weeks, before seeing Cyril Ngonge snatched away by Monza. The Brianza-based club had, in fact, beaten the Ducali to the punch in the deal that brought the Belgian winger on loan from Napoli, with an option to buy. This sudden move left Parma with a gap to fill, prompting the club to intensify its search for alternative players: Fabbian, given his characteristics and the cost of the deal, represents a solution far better suited to the needs of the Emilia-based club.
