Verona Transfer Market: Gabriele Zappa Signing Made Official

In a statement, Hellas Verona FC announced that it has acquired—on loan with an obligation to buy upon the fulfillment of certain conditions—the services of Italian fullback Gabriele Zappa from Cagliari Calcio.

Born in Monza on December 22, 1999, and a native of Villasanta like Filippo Galli, Zappa is a right-footed right fullback. He came up through Inter’s youth academy, where he won a Scudetto, a Primavera Super Cup, and the Viareggio Tournament; in 2019, he transferred to Pescara. With the Abruzzo-based club, he made 26 appearances, scoring 5 goals and providing 1 assist across Serie B and the Coppa Italia.

The following season, he joined Cagliari, where he played five seasons in Serie A and one in Serie B, totaling 215 appearances, 6 goals, and 13 assists. Among these was the decisive assist for Pavoletti’s goal in the 90’+4′ of the playoff final on June 11, 2023, against Bari, which secured the Rossoblù’s return to the top flight.

At the international level, Zappa has represented Italy’s Under-18, Under-20, and Under-21 national teams, with which he competed in the 2021 European Championship for his age group.
