Napoli Transfer Market: Massimiliano Allegri Takes Stock and Sends a Clear Message

Napoli’s 2026–2027 transfer campaign has not yet produced any headline-grabbing signings: the club has exercised its options to sign Rasmus Hojlund, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, and Alisson Santos have been permanently signed; Benoit Badiashile from Chelsea and Costantino Favasuli from Catanzaro have arrived on loans with mandatory buyout clauses; and Noa Lang, Lorenzo Lucca, and Rafa Marin have returned to the squad. Massimiliano Allegri, however, seems satisfied with the players at his disposal and made sure to mention this during the press conference ahead of the Napoli-Como match.

“I’m happy with our roster; there’s no need to bring in someone at all costs: we already have some roster issues, and if a player doesn’t add anything from a technical standpoint, there’s no need to force it,” said the Livorno-born coach. “We have Lang, who made a good impact in Genoa and is improving; Neres, who is regaining his fitness and whom I see getting better day by day. Badiashile? He didn’t train much at Chelsea, and we’re only at the start of the season: it’s normal that some players still need to find their rhythm.”

“Now let’s focus on Como, then on Inter,” Allegri added, noting that after the match against Como—and before the Champions League opener against Arsenal—there will be an away game at San Siro. The club handles the transfer market: we’re all happy with the roster, though of course it’s still the 29th—maybe something will happen, or maybe not. The important thing is to maintain balance and keep working with the players we have.”

Napoli kicked off its season with a controversial 2-0 victory over Genoa at the “Ferraris”: the opening goal, scored by De Bruyne in the 82nd minute, was in fact heavily contested by Genoa, who complained that the Belgian had pushed Vasquez during the play that led to the 1-0 goal. The Neapolitans then sealed the victory in the 87th minute with Antonio Vergara’s first goal of the season.
