Milan Transfer Market: Rossoneri at a Standstill—Two Sales Fall Through and No New Signings

No luck for Milan: The Rossoneri failed to complete the deals they had in mind on the final day of the summer transfer window. The Rossoneri wanted to send Tiago Gabriel to Ruben Amorim, who had asked for another defender to add depth to his roster, but the negotiations with Lecce fell through.

Lecce did not lower their asking price, which was over 25 million euros, while Milan did not go beyond 20 million and did not make any further offers. Tiago Gabriel was pushing for the transfer, and Jorge Mendes also worked on the deal, to no avail. Amorim will make do with the defenders he already has.

Fikayo Tomori remains at Milan but will be left out of the squad. Negotiations with Fulham fell through, and the English center-back—who has found himself on the fringes of Ruben Amorim’s plans—will not be included on the Serie A or Champions League rosters. He will remain in Milan until January, then seek a new destination during the next transfer window, barring any last-minute developments in the coming days.

The other transfer, involving Youssouf Fofana, has also fallen through: a deal with Lyon seemed all but done, but Malick Fofana’s failure to join Sunderland derailed the entire deal. According to Sky, the French club lacks the financial resources to finalize the signing of the Milan midfielder, who could attract interest from Turkish clubs in the coming days (the transfer window closes Friday in the Super Lig).
