Roma Transfer Market: The Search for a Winger Isn’t Over Yet: Three Promising Options Among Free Agents

Despite being one of the most active clubs in the summer transfer window, Roma has failed to find the much-coveted left winger. However, Giallorossi sporting director Tony D’Amico hinted during a press conference in Trigoria that the search is not yet over and that the free-agent market offers more than one opportunity.

“The initial priority was to strengthen the attack, but transfer market needs must always be viewed in context,” said D’Amico. “Many negotiations begin, and then others end up materializing. In any case, Rodrigo Mora has arrived, and that fulfills part of the plan. It’s true, we were also looking for an attacking winger with more physical attributes, but it wouldn’t be accurate to say that no one has arrived for that role. Free agents? We’re evaluating what might be available; it’s an issue we’ll address later on.”

As for what the free-agent market has to offer in the left-wing position, three names have been linked to the Giallorossi: the most notable, in terms of honors, is Raphael Guerreiro, a winner of numerous trophies with Bayern Munich and a European champion with Portugal in 2016. Also worth noting is Tyrell Malacia, a Dutch player formerly with Feyenoord, PSV, and Manchester United.

Finally, a dream that could come true is the one involving Jadon Sancho: the player, born in 2000, is a free agent after his loan from Manchester United to Aston Villa and had already caught the Giallorossi’s eye, though they had been focusing on other targets. The coming weeks could also bring developments in this regard.
