2026-2027 Premier League: Newcastle vs. Bournemouth—Probable Lineups

On the same weekend that Juventus faces Milan in Serie A, the Premier League also features a matchup—albeit a much less high-profile one—between a black-and-white club and a red-and-black club. St. James’ Park will host the match between Newcastle and Bournemouth—scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Italian time—as part of the third matchday of the top English league. The match will be officiated by Robert Jones, a referee from Merseyside.
Newcastle began its season with a 2-2 draw against Liverpool (with goals from Elanga and Willock for the Magpies), then advanced in the Carabao Cup with a 3-2 win over West Bromwich (with a goal by Touré and a brace by Barnes for the Black and Whites) and secured their first win of the new Premier League season on the road against Tottenham: a 2-0 victory for Matthias Jaissle’s men, powered by goals from Elanga in the 62nd minute and Wissa in the 72nd minute.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, is still searching for its first win of the new season—its first under Marco Rose following the departure of Andoni Iraola, who moved to Liverpool. On Matchday 1, the Cherries lost 2-1 on the road to Manchester City: despite taking the lead through Tavernier, the Citizens came back late with goals from Guehi and Gvardiol. In the second round, they drew with Everton: here too, an opponent’s goal in stoppage time—scored by Tarkowski—canceled out Scott’s opener.
