Plenty of offers for Nikola Mirotic, who could catch everyone off guard

Nikola Mirotic is at a major crossroads in his career. According to La Razón, the Montenegrin player is seriously considering the possibility of retiring—a scenario that, until recently, seemed hard to imagine.

Mirotic has a contract with Monaco that runs through the summer of 2027, but the difficult period the Principality club is currently experiencing is fueling doubts about whether he will stay. The uncertainty surrounding the club’s future could therefore prompt him to consider not only a change of teams but also whether he wants to continue his career in professional basketball.

Meanwhile, there is no shortage of suitors. According to the Spanish newspaper, Baskonia, Málaga, and Badalona have expressed interest in bringing him back to the Liga ACB, seeing him as a player capable of becoming a key figure both on the court and in the locker room. As early as July, the possibility of a move to Turkey had also emerged—specifically to Bahcesehir, coached by Sasha Djordjevic—following Mirotic’s previous stint with Olimpia Milano.

Before considering any offers, however, the player will have to decide whether he still has the drive necessary to continue competing at the highest levels. His final decision will therefore depend primarily on his personal motivations. After all, Mirotic’s resume tells the story of a career of the highest caliber. After stints in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, and Milwaukee Bucks, he also excelled at the highest levels of European basketball, winning, among other accolades, the EuroLeague MVP title in 2022 and the LBA Finals MVP title in 2024.
