Juventus Transfer Market: Here’s Why It’s Better Not to Sign Any Free Agents

It’s a full-blown crisis at Juventus. Even Locatelli has thrown in the towel (he’ll be sidelined for five to six months). Yet another injury that’s throwing Spalletti into a crisis. The Bianconeri’s midfield is at an all-time low, having lost key players such as the Italian midfielder and the Frenchman Thuram.

Many are speculating about a possible move in the transfer market by the Old Lady. There are plenty of free agents who could come in handy. First and foremost is former Inter player Brozovic, who knows Serie A inside and out. Keep an eye on Ndombele as well—currently a free agent following his stint at Nice—and Bissouma, who is without a club after his time at Tottenham came to an end.

In short, there’s no shortage of opportunities, but Juventus would be making a mistake to sign a new midfielder. The reason? The roster submitted to UEFA. Locatelli occupies one of the four slots reserved for players “trained in the youth academies of Italian clubs.”

It’s not possible to replace him with a foreign player or one who wasn’t “trained in the youth academies of Italian clubs.” To do so, they’d have to remove one of the players already on the list, and at the moment, that solution doesn’t seem feasible. In short, it’s better for the Old Lady to look for a solution internally.
