Leao is ready to return to Champions League action. Today, at 9:00 p.m., he’ll face Sporting Lisbon—his former team, by the way—while playing for Galatasaray.

The Portuguese player said he has recovered from a minor injury and is ready to help his new team, hoping to make an impact right from the opening match of the 2026–27 Champions League. Unlike his former teammates at Milan, the Portuguese player, born in 1999, will once again hear the Champions League anthem.

His goal is to win and, hopefully, score a goal. He hasn’t scored in Europe’s top competition since January 22, 2025, when he netted the decisive goal at San Siro in the match against Girona (which ended 1-0). In that edition of the Champions League, the then-Rossonero scored three goals.

By the numbers, he hasn’t appeared on the scoresheet in a Champions League match for nearly 20 months. Many will be watching him today against Sporting Lisbon, including, no doubt, many Rossoneri fans. There’s a lot of curiosity to see how he’ll perform in his new Galatasaray jersey.
