Marco Bezzecchi: A Friday as a Hero at Home

Blowing away the competition with a fast lap time of 1:30.144, Marco Bezzecchi finished the pre-qualifying session for the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix in first place, celebrating in front of the crowd in the stands at the “Marco Simoncelli” Circuit in Misano Adriatico, not far from Rimini itself, “Bez’s” hometown.
The Aprilia rider was 103 thousandths of a second faster than Marc Marquez, the top Ducati rider, and 185 thousandths of a second faster than the No. 93’s brother, Alex, who rides for Team Gresini. Fourth and fifth places went to the VR46 riders, Fabio Di Giannantonio (+0.241) and Franco Morbidelli (+0.271). Also qualifying directly for Q2 were Pedro Acosta (KTM, +0.344), Luca Marini (Honda, +0.496), Johann Zarco (LCR Honda, +0.510), Pol Espargaró (KTM Tech3, +0.530), and Jorge Martin (Aprilia, +0.546) have also qualified directly for Q2.
