Amorim isn’t satisfied with Roma’s comeback draw. “We weren’t there in the first half,” the Portuguese coach began. “You can’t just play for 45 minutes. At the start, we gave up too much space, but in the second half we brought energy and speed, controlling the game the way we wanted to. We were a completely different team. We’ll take the point, but we need to do much better.”

Modric was among those who disappointed: “Luka can play if we play a certain style of game, if we control the match. If it turns into a game of pure running, it’s not suited to him. Musah came on for him, and he has a different pace. We can play with Luka—we’ve shown that in recent games—but to do so, we need to turn the match into one of possession and control. Ramos? To help him, we need to spend more time near the penalty area, bringing more players into the final third. With Pulisic or Cisse making runs into the box, Ramos will have more opportunities to get on the ball. He’ll definitely improve as the season goes on.”

Finally, applause for Moreira, who scored both goals in the second half to earn the draw: “He’s left-footed and opens up the field. When I brought him on, I just wanted to be more attacking since they had three defenders.”
