The home loss to Roma is still reverberating in Turin. One of the newest additions to the team, Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri, has come under fire from several fans on social media for a botched clearance that led to the Giallorossi’s opening goal by Donyell Malen.

Among those who lashed out at Perri is VIP fan Piero Chiambretti, who posted a direct message on Instagram: “Toro pride—our goalkeeper Perri was Roma’s best player.”

After the loss to Gasperini’s team, Torino coach Ignazio Abate tried to defend his goalkeeper: “He needs to get back into top form. He’s a world-class goalkeeper; he’s only been with us a short time, so he needs to make better decisions, and he’ll improve. We’re not backing down one millimeter from our game plan; in the long run, it will give us an advantage.”

“The guys need to keep doing what they’re doing—the second half proves it. We need to cut down on individual mistakes. It’s tough to always be trailing; we haven’t taken the lead in any of our first four games yet. That’s something we absolutely must improve.”
