Cantù is giving it a shot with a former Trieste player. But Verona is in the mix, too.

Acqua San Bernardo Cantù is stepping up its efforts in the transfer market to finalize the roster for the 2026–27 season. The Brianza-based club wants to provide Coach Frank Vitucci with a finalized roster as soon as possible and has identified Davide Moretti as the right fit to add quality and depth to the backcourt.

Interest in the player, born in 1998, has reportedly already moved beyond the initial contact phase. In fact, in the last few hours, Cantù reportedly submitted an official offer to Moretti, who is currently a free agent, thus signaling its desire to speed up the process and quickly reach a potential agreement.

Moretti’s arrival—for whom Scaligera Verona is also in the running—would allow Vitucci to add a player to the rotation who knows Italian basketball well and can provide experience, reliability, and options on the perimeter.

In his final season with Trieste, Moretti played 15 games, averaging 4.7 points, 0.9 assists, and 0.7 rebounds, shooting 34.3% from three-point range and 84.2% from the free-throw line. These numbers tell only part of the story of the contribution this wing player can offer, especially given his ability to stretch the floor and serve as an important alternative in the rotation.

Cantù is therefore trying to speed things up: Moretti has become a concrete target, and an offer from the Brianza-based club is reportedly already on the table.
