Sofia Goggia: The Mystery Deepens—Her Silence on Social Media Is Making More and More Noise

It has now been almost a week since the FISI issued a statement announcing the early end of Sofia Goggia’s training camp in Argentina, as she was dealing with unspecified health issues. What has been making headlines in recent days is the skier’s silence on social media—a stark contrast to her usual high activity, much to the delight of her followers, especially during the summer training period.

Her last Instagram post dates back to August 22, when Markus Gufler was announced as her new ski technician. As the days have passed, her Stories have also become fewer, and none have appeared in the last 24 hours. This complete silence is raising eyebrows and offers no clarity on the situation.

The Italian Sports Federation (FISI) had stated that her return to Italy was decided so she could undergo the necessary medical examinations, but since then, no further official information has been released. The Alpine Ski World Cup will resume in late October with the giant slalom in Sölden, Austria, scheduled for October 24, 2026, and will conclude on March 25, 2027, in Sun Valley, United States.

In the women’s competition, 40 races are scheduled across 20 stops: nine downhill races, nine super-G races, twelve giant slaloms, and ten slaloms. The 2027 Alpine World Ski Championships will also be held in Crans-Montana during the season. The United States’ Mikaela Shiffrin is the current overall World Cup champion.
