Inter Transfer News: Club Is Working on Calhanoglu’s Contract Extension, but Only Under Certain Conditions

We certainly can’t call it the “Calhanoglu case,” but there’s definitely a lot of attention surrounding the midfielder’s future. As is well known, his contract with Inter expires at the end of the current season.

Inter has no intention of letting one of the best midfielders around go. Renewing his contract is a priority for the Nerazzurri, but certain conditions must be met before a deal can be finalized.

Specifically, the sticking point appears to be the Turkish player’s salary. Currently, Calhanoglu earns over six million euros. This is a significant figure that Inter would like to renegotiate in the new agreement. On February 8, Calhanoglu will turn 33, and his injuries have increased in recent seasons.

In short, a more modest salary—or, at the very least, one tied to his number of appearances. It won’t be easy to convince the Turkish player’s entourage. Many clubs are ready to step forward, especially Turkish ones. Calhanoglu is considered a hero in his home country, and there has been talk on more than one occasion of a possible return to the Super Lig. Inter, however, will do everything in its power to keep him for years to come.
