Rafa Jodar Gets Straight to the Point About Jannik Sinner

Spanish tennis prospect Rafael Jodar, in an interview with La Repubblica, also spoke about Jannik Sinner, whom he can’t wait to face on the court again. So far, the two have faced off only once, in Madrid, where the world No. 1 defeated the rising Spanish star in two sets.

“He’s really a great guy—funny and incredibly humble,” Jodar said. “Everyone on the tour misses him; I really hope he comes back soon—I want to challenge him in the future.”

Meanwhile, the Italian has resumed training in Monte Carlo after his trip to Milan for Fashion Week. After missing Beijing, the player still hopes to return in Shanghai and be in top form for the final tournaments of the year.

In Milan, Sinner mentioned his injury during a brief exchange with journalist Anna Wintour: “Did you think I’d go to Beijing? I thought so too… Ready for January? Well, if I don’t come back in January, that would be a problem…”. The tennis player from San Candido had announced his withdrawal on X just a few hours earlier: “I’m sorry to announce that I won’t be able to make it; I’m not ready to play yet. I’ll miss the tournament, the fans, and the atmosphere. I’ve had some great moments in Beijing in the past. I’m sorry I can’t defend the title I won in 2025, but I’ll be there next year. I hope all the Chinese fans enjoy a great tournament.”
