Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz Out: A Sensational Announcement

The four Grand Slam tournaments have finalized the composition of the new Players’ Council, a body created to foster dialogue between tennis players and the organizers of the four Majors. Discussions will focus primarily on issues such as revenue sharing and increasing prize money, which have long been among the players’ demands.

However, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are not among the players selected to serve on the new body. For the Spaniard, this decision had already been made in recent days, when he stepped back from the project, hinting that he did not wish to join the council. Sinner’s case is more significant, as in recent months he had seemed particularly attentive to the players’ positions on issues related to the Grand Slams and revenue distribution. The Italian, however, will not be part of the new body.

A total of twelve male and female players will make up the new council. For the men’s tour, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Lorenzo Musetti, and Arthur Rinderknech have been selected.

Musetti will therefore represent Italian tennis on the council, with the goal of creating a more direct channel of communication between the tour’s leading players and the four most important tournaments of the season. Another notable member is Djokovic, who brings extensive experience in issues related to player representation and his work with the PTPA. The Serbian, who will turn 40 next year, remains one of the most recognizable and influential figures in world tennis.
