The Lombardy Regional Committee has a new president: Enrico Ragnolini

Enrico Ragnolini is the new president of the Lombardy Regional Committee. The regional assembly, held at the Hotel Quark in Milan, was attended by 383 voters, representing 73% of those eligible to vote. There were 382 valid ballots: Ragnolini received 320 votes, or 83.8%, while Pietro Colnago received 62 votes, or 16.2%. The election followed the removal of Giuseppe Rizzi from office last February and once again pitted the Lombardy committee against a contest between two candidates, each backed by their own team of advisors, as had already happened in 2020.

The candidates vying for the presidency were Enrico Ragnolini, vice president of the regional CONI and former head of the committee on Via Piranesi from 2005 to 2013, and Pietro Colnago, a longtime commentator for Sky Sport and former national federal council member from 2000 to 2004.

Ragnolini ran in the election with a team composed of several outgoing council members and figures already active in the Lombardy basketball scene: Andrea Sina, Carlo Filabelli, Maurizio Ostini, Federico Karrer, Fabio Giani, and Elisabetta Lucchini. Following the vote, the new Regional Council will be composed of these individuals. Colnago, on the other hand, had built his team around Max Ferraiuolo, a legend of Pallacanestro Varese, along with Lorenza Branchi, Marino Spaccasassi, Maria Teresa Baldini, Ilario Narra, and Alessandro Giambelli.

At the conclusion of the election, FIP President Giovanni Petrucci congratulated Enrico Ragnolini, extending his best wishes for success to the new president and all members of the Regional Council.
