An Italian lead reemerges for former Napoli player Kim

A transfer route being explored by Milan could lead to Kim Min-Jae, according to *Corriere dello Sport*. The South Korean defender’s future at Bayern Munich has once again become a hot topic of discussion in Germany. The 1996-born player, under contract with the Bavarians through 2028, is expected to discuss with the club to understand what role Vincent Kompany intends to assign him. Kim continues to see playing time, even starting matches, but without the consistency he might find elsewhere.

After three seasons in Germany that haven’t always been easy, the former Napoli player might therefore consider a new challenge. His name is also drawing interest in the Premier League: Aston Villa and Tottenham are reportedly eyeing the center back, increasing competition should he become available.

Milan also remains in the running, having already sounded out the situation during previous transfer windows. On those occasions, however, the conditions weren’t right to take the discussion further, partly because Kim had chosen to continue fighting for his place at Bayern.

The scenario could change following discussions with Kompany and the Bavarian club’s management. Should the defender realize he does not have a central role in the team’s plans, the possibility of a transfer would become more concrete. The transfer fee, estimated at around 25 million euros, would be within Milan’s reach. The salary issue is more complicated, considering that Kim currently earns about 7 million net per season.
