Inter Transfer Market: Rumors of a Sensational Return to the Nerazzurri Confirmed

Walter Samuel back at Inter? The possibility is very real. Cristian Chivu is reportedly pushing for the former defender—a pillar of Inter’s Treble-winning team—to return to the Nerazzurri. This was revealed by Lionel Scaloni, Argentina’s head coach, during a press conference.

“Walter cares deeply about the Argentine national team; he showed us that when he received an offer from Inter to work with Chivu. He stayed with us until the World Cup, and that speaks volumes about his greatness. I consider him important, but he’s also a friend of mine: I want the best for him,” Scaloni said.

The future of Samuel, 48, therefore remains to be seen. The former defender would like to embark on a new professional venture in Europe, and the chance to work with Chivu could be a particularly appealing opportunity. The two, in fact, were teammates at Inter and could now find themselves on the Nerazzurri’s coaching staff together.

Samuel, who is primarily responsible for set-piece training with the Albiceleste, has nevertheless chosen to remain alongside Scaloni ahead of the World Cup, despite the offer he received from Inter in the months leading up to the tournament. The tournament, held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, concluded with Argentina losing the final to Spain.

Samuel’s possible return to Inter may therefore simply be postponed. The possibility of him joining Inter in 2027 remains on the table, while the Argentine Football Association has reportedly already begun efforts to persuade the former defender to continue his work on Scaloni’s coaching staff.
