Juventus Transfer Market: The Bianconeri Are Targeting Milan’s Star—a Free Transfer

Juventus is scouring the list of players set to become free agents in 2027, on the hunt for potential free-agent signings. Among them is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the Milan midfielder whose contract expires next June; according to the latest rumors, he will not be extending his deal with the Rossoneri.

According to reports in *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, barring any major surprises, the English player will become a free agent at the end of the season, and this could present an opportunity for the Old Lady. Coach Luciano Spalletti himself has reportedly already expressed his approval of the 30-year-old’s arrival, as he plays a fast-paced, physical style of soccer that appeals to the Tuscan coach.

Starting in January, Loftus-Cheek and Juventus could begin talks regarding a potential summer deal. Loftus-Cheek has been with Milan since 2023: over the past three years, he has experienced ups and downs in the Rossoneri jersey. Since the start of this season, he has played five Serie A matches.

Last summer, his departure seemed all but certain: the Rossoneri had placed him on the transfer list, and Coventry—led by Frank Lampard, who has known him since his Chelsea days—had offered around 10 million euros to bring him back to England. Milan, however, rejected the offer, largely due to a veto by Ruben Amorim himself, who had decided to rely on him in his 3-4-2-1 formation as an attacking midfielder.

Juventus had already shown interest in the player during the summer transfer window, when his name was circulating among those likely to leave Milanello. At the time, Juventus was evaluating several players on the market, and Loftus-Cheek was one of those being monitored by the management team led by Giovanni Carnevali. Now, with his contract expiring and the possibility of signing him on a free transfer, that interest could materialize much more decisively.
