2026-2027 Nations League: Germany vs. Serbia, Probable Lineups

The 2026-2027 UEFA Nations League features a crucial matchup in Group 2 of League A. On Thursday evening, at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany will host Serbia in Matchday 3. Both national teams are still winless and need a positive result to revive their hopes in the group.
Jürgen Klopp’s Germany has earned just one point in the first two matchdays. After a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands in their opener, the Germans suffered a surprise 1-0 loss to Greece, slipping to third place in the group. The German national team is also coming off four consecutive games without a win and is counting on home-field advantage to turn things around. Klopp must find greater stability, especially on defense, and deliver a strong performance in front of the home crowd at the Allianz Arena.
The situation is even more complicated for Serbia, which sits last in the group after losses to Greece and the Netherlands. In the last round, Veljko Paunović’s team was defeated 2-1 by the Oranje, showing some difficulty in managing the chances they conceded to their opponents. Serbia is therefore seeking a positive result in what looks to be a very challenging away match, relying in part on the experience of its most talented players.
Germany will be without Kai Havertz, who is sidelined by an injury. Klopp is expected to opt for a defensive line consisting of Baku, Anton, Thiaw, and Raum, while Janelt and Pavlovic will feature in midfield. Adeyemi, Bischof, and Wirtz will play in the attacking midfield, behind lone striker Jonathan Burkardt.
Serbia, on the other hand, will have to do without Aleksandar Mitrović. Dejan Joveljic and Luka Jović in the attack, with the latter having already scored in the last match against the Netherlands. Lukić and Gudelj are confirmed in midfield, while Milinković-Savić and Živković are expected to play on the wings. Vanja Milinković-Savić will once again start in goal.
Probable lineups:
GERMANY (4-2-3-1): Atubolu; Baku, Anton, Thiaw, Raum; Janelt, Pavlovic; Adeyemi, Bischof, Wirtz; Burkardt. Head Coach: Jürgen Klopp.
SERBIA (4-2-3-1): V. Milinković-Savić; Terzić, Pavlović, Babić, Nadeljković; Lukić, Gudelj; S. Milinković-Savić, Stanković, Živković; Jovelj. Head Coach: Veljko Paunović.
