Cristiano Ronaldo: The Story Continues—Billboards Pop Up and a Meeting Is Scheduled

The Cristiano Ronaldo case is dominating the headlines in Portugal. Now the Federation appears intent on intervening by scheduling a meeting to try to mend the relationship between the head coach and his captain. However, it remains to be seen what Ronaldo’s position will be and whether he will accept the invitation extended by the federation’s leadership.
Meanwhile, in Portugal, the situation has sparked a debate between those who support the coach’s decisions and those who, on the other hand, openly side with Ronaldo. In Lisbon, a billboard has also appeared near the Da Luz Stadium, featuring a message dedicated to the national team captain.
“Thank you, Cristiano Ronaldo, for everything you’ve done for Portugal; you will always be our captain,” the billboard reads, alongside an image of the star player. Jorge Jesus, on the other hand, has come under fire, accused in the message of failing to handle the situation with Ronaldo properly and, according to the billboard’s creators, of displaying a “boundless ego.” The initiative could also be replicated in Porto, near the Do Dragao Stadium.
Tension was also evident upon the national team’s arrival at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto, where Portugal will play its final Nations League match. The team was escorted by police while some fans harshly protested against Jorge Jesus, hurling insults at him and criticizing his handling of the Ronaldo situation.
