A Jannik Sinner fan (not a “Carota-boy”) lashes out at journalists and even mentions Garlasco

A peculiar, bitter outburst from a certain Nunzio Isoni, who claims to be a fan of Jannik Sinner. “If I were Sinner, I’d ask sports journalists, distinguished columnists, famous half-figures, small-time hacks, and second-rate writers for royalties. Every other minute they’re drawing news and information from him. For free. Yesterday it was about the Grand Slams, his girlfriend, his dear mom and dad; today—about his current girlfriend, his driver’s license, and the mystery of the “killer” knee tendon—which not even the Garlasco case, which has been going on for more than twenty years and is now eligible for a pension, yet still struggles to remain in the background and be shelved, can overshadow. “Go Jannik!” she wrote on social media.

In fact, there’s no shortage of material. In the last few hours alone, Sinner has been making headlines on multiple fronts simultaneously. On the sports front, the world No. 1 announced he would also withdraw from the Shanghai Masters 1000, scheduled to begin on October 7: this brings to five the number of consecutive tournaments the Italian has missed since the Wimbledon final on July 12, following Montreal, Cincinnati, the U.S. Open, and Beijing. “Unfortunately, I won’t be able to play in the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year as I had hoped,” Sinner wrote on his social media accounts, adding: “I’ve always enjoyed playing in front of the fans in Shanghai, and I’m very sorry I won’t be able to do so next week. I can’t wait to see you all again next year.”

In recent days, a photo posted on social media showing Sinner at a restaurant in Lyon—a city considered one of the world’s capitals of knee surgery—had also been making headlines. Fans were alarmed, speculating that he was seeking emergency medical attention, only to then notice a significant detail: in the photos, Jannik was smiling. According to reports from Sky Sport and Adnkronos, the South Tyrolean is “clinically recovered” from the extra-articular tendon inflammation in his right knee, with his training sessions in Monte Carlo described as increasingly intense. However, his staff’s caution prevailed once again.

And then there’s the driver’s license. The very one mentioned in Isoni’s social media outburst. Sinner has finally passed the practical test to obtain his motorcycle license, after four failed attempts. This was confirmed by the Monaco Bonne Conduite driving school in an Instagram post: “Thank you so much, Sinner, for your trust and kindness. Congratulations on passing your motorcycle license test; we’re very proud to have supported you throughout this training.” A little odyssey with a happy ending, which had already brought a smile to the face of his coach, Darren Cahill, who playfully teased him in a public YouTube video.

Finally, his girlfriend. Laila Hasanovic, a Danish model, returned home after her commitments at Milan Fashion Week, flying to Copenhagen without Sinner to watch the Nations League match between Denmark and Portugal. In short, more than enough material to fuel the constant stream of news revolving around the South Tyrolean champion. Which is why Isoni’s outburst—irony aside—accurately captures the media phenomenon that Sinner has become, far beyond the boundaries of tennis.
