Lately, it seems there has been a proliferation of doctors and orthopedic experts: on social media, many have felt entitled to weigh in on Jannik Sinner’s knee injury, putting forward hypotheses that are often completely unfounded. The South Tyrolean player and his staff’s extremely measured communication regarding the injury cannot serve as an excuse.

Even legendary coach Rick Macci wanted to put a stop to these would-be medical experts: “Jannik Sinner is on the right track for his return because he knows his body and his legs better than anyone else in the world. When he returns to the court, he’ll be 100% sure that his knee is fine.”

“A career isn’t judged by a single moment, a week, or a month: it’s a long, winding journey full of ups and downs, between painful defeats and epic victories. And no one knows this better than Jannik Sinner,” concluded the former coach of Venus and Serena Williams, among others.

Recently, Adriano Panatta also weighed in harshly on the matter: “I’ve read a lot of controversy about the fact that no one really knows what’s wrong with Sinner. That’s to be expected, because Sinner likely has a knee issue, and it’s not something you can explain perfectly or just hand over a medical report for,” he told *Domenica Sportiva*.

“They’re trying to resolve the issue; from what I understand, it’s very complicated,” the tennis legend continued. Now he’s left Shanghai as well; I hope he can return to play in the Finals and then, consequently, the Davis Cup, even if returning immediately to a major event—a major tournament—without having had the chance to play in an intermediate event, like the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia…He could play in Vienna, which is a tournament he’s always won and is close to home.”
