Juventus continues to look toward the future with the goal of further rejuvenating its roster. Among the players on the Bianconeri’s radar is Darryl Bakola, a French midfielder born in 2007 who is owned by Sassuolo and considered one of the most promising young talents to watch.

Roma is also said to have shown interest in the Sassuolo talent, but Juventus may have the upper hand. The Bianconeri are aided by the presence on their management team of Giovanni Carnevali, the former CEO of Sassuolo—a connection that could prove crucial should negotiations move forward.

The interest in Bakola is part of Juventus’ strategy to invest in young, promising players, continuing the process of squad renewal. Competition from Roma remains a factor to consider, but at the moment, the Bianconeri appear to have a few more cards to play in the race for the 2007-born player.

The young French midfielder has also drawn attention for his technical and tactical skills: Bakola can play both as a central midfielder and in a more advanced position, qualities that make him particularly versatile and appealing to coaches like Luciano Spalletti and Gian Piero Gasperini, both of whom value players capable of filling multiple roles during the same match. Having arrived in Italy after his stint at Marseille, the youngster has already carved out an important role for himself in Serie A despite his very young age.

The road ahead, however, is not expected to be easy. Sassuolo has secured Bakola with a long-term contract and does not seem willing to let him go easily, which means that any bid will have to contend with a very high asking price. Further complicating the picture is the interest from several Premier League clubs, which have reportedly already put the Frenchman on their radar, raising the bar for competition even higher.

On the Juventus front, meanwhile, Carnevali is active on multiple fronts. The Juventus CEO is also working on renewing the contracts of several key players on the roster, such as Nico González and Pierre Kalulu, both of whom are highly regarded by Spalletti and are already under contract through 2029. This prudent management of the present, therefore, goes hand in hand with planning for the future: and Bakola, in this sense, represents exactly the kind of investment the Bianconeri intend to pursue.
