Keep Fit applauds Carlo Calcagni’s world record and celebrates three podium finishes in the FISPES Italian Throwing Cup

The ASD Keep Fit club from Bitetto secured three podium finishes at the 2026 FISPES Italian Throwing Cup Final, held in Jesolo over the weekend, reaffirming its place among the elite of national Paralympic track and field. The Apulian club finished in second place in the men’s overall standings with 17,301 points, behind Anthropos Civitanova Marche and ahead of GSH Sempione 82.
They also took second place in the men’s Promotional standings with 23,071 points, while the women’s team claimed third place in the Promotional standings with 10,243 points. These results were the culmination of a journey built up over the entire season through the various regional stages of the Italian Cup and solidified in the final phase held in Jesolo.
The men’s team consisted of Orlando Barrasso, Vincenzo Magi, Antonio Murolo, and Carlo Vetrani. Competing for the women’s team were Emily Carulli, Sonia D’Addabbo, and Anna Pia Di Stefano. Among the standout performers of the weekend was Carlo Calcagni, who competed in the Italian Club Championships. The athlete from Puglia set a new world record in the T72 800 meters with a time of 2:09.64, achieved in his first outdoor race at that distance.
Calcagni also won the 400-meter race in 1:00.92 and finished the 100-meter race in 15.17. This result marks another milestone in the athlete’s career; he is already the T72 world champion in the 100- and 400-meter races from the 2025 World Championships in New Delhi. Encouraging results also came from the young Carlo Vetrani. Born in 2012 and competing in the F13 category in his first competitive season, he achieved a distance of 22.26 meters in the javelin throw. This performance earned him a spot at the national training camp in Cosenza this November.
