Cantù: Frank Vitucci Is Ready to Make the First Head Roll
In a Cantù team that saw many players underperform in Desio against Udine, Hassani Gravett was probably the worst. To top it all off, he had a public exchange with Frank Vitucci, who then didn’t put him back on the court: after the game, the Biancoblù fans—already furious over the loss and their favorites’ performance—didn’t hold back on social media. His release, which seemed likely to happen before the start of the season, now appears imminent.
The American basketball player had joined Cantù after building a resume that spanned American college basketball and various international stints. His journey began at the University of South Carolina, where he played college basketball and even reached the NCAA Final Four in 2017. After his college career ended, Gravett took his first steps in the professional ranks with the Lakeland Magic, a G-League team affiliated with the Orlando Magic. In the 2019–20 season, he averaged 11.7 points per game, contributing to the team’s success in the Southeast Division.
His first move overseas took him to MZT Skopje Aerodrom. In Macedonia, he played a key role in winning both the league championship and the national cup, averaging 12.1 points per game. He then returned to the Lakeland Magic, earning an opportunity in the NBA with Orlando. With the Magic, he averaged 21.5 minutes per game, scoring 6.3 points per game.
His career then continued once again in the G-League, first with the Memphis Hustle and then with the Raptors 905. In February 2023, Gravett chose to return to Europe, moving to Oldenburg, Germany, where he concluded his stint in the Bundesliga with an average just shy of double digits.
In 2023–24, he moved to Śląsk Wrocław in Poland, which allowed him to compete in the EuroCup as well. In that European competition, he averaged 11.1 points per game. His long international career then continued in the Dominican Republic with the Indios de San Francisco and later in Azerbaijan, where he played for Sabah BC.
