Jonathan David Is Back in Form: A Deal on the Horizon for Juventus

Jonathan David’s future may be moving further and further away from Juventus. Atlético Madrid has signed him on loan with an option to buy set at 25 million euros, and if the Canadian continues to perform at the level he has in recent weeks, a permanent move to the Spanish club would become a very real possibility. However, there is the precedent of Nico Gonzalez, whom the Spanish club decided not to buy outright despite his strong performances and a transfer fee for a permanent deal that wasn’t too different.

David, meanwhile, seems to have completely turned his season around in La Liga. After a difficult season at Juventus, the forward has become one of the hottest players in the Spanish league, scoring three goals in as many games. His strong form has continued with the Canadian national team as well, marking a clear turnaround from the struggles he faced over the past year.

In Turin, the Canadian had often come under fire, mainly for missed opportunities. The most significant incident was the penalty kick he attempted with a chip shot against Lecce, which was saved by Falcone. From that moment on, the situation became even more complicated, even though David still finished the season with eight goals. These numbers were lower than in his previous seasons in France, where he had never scored fewer than thirteen goals.

Spalletti’s tactical demands had also made it harder for him to find his place in the lineup. The coach was, in fact, looking for a center forward with more physical attributes, along the lines of Vlahovic or Woltemade. David himself recently spoke about the intense pressure he felt at Juventus, which was also linked to the years spent without being able to return to winning ways. In Spain, with fewer expectations resting solely on his shoulders, the Canadian seems to have regained his confidence and consistency.atlet
