Juan Carlos Ferrero sends another message to Jannik Sinner

Juan Carlos Ferrero is undoubtedly one of the coaches at the center of the rumors ahead of the upcoming season. Carlos Alcaraz’s former coach has already announced that he will return to coaching a top player, though he has not revealed any further details at this time. In an interview with Punto de Break, Ferrero did not rule out a future collaboration with Jannik Sinner.
The Italian player, currently sidelined due to a knee injury, might part ways with Darren Cahill at the end of the season: in that case, he could look for someone capable of replacing the experienced, world-class Australian coach. And Ferrero would fit the bill: “Problems with Carlos? It’s been a year now; what I’m trying to do now is focus on my growth as a coach and on how to advance my career.”
“People need to respect my decision, and above all, if I were to join Jannik’s team in the future, it would never be to harm Alcaraz.” Ferrero doesn’t hide his interest in Sinner: “Having the opportunity to work with two of the best players of this generation would be a great personal satisfaction. The fact that I coached Carlos doesn’t mean I can’t coach his main rival. That’s how the competitive world works—sometimes you’re with some people, and then with others. I just ask people for a little respect.”
On Sinner’s growth in recent years: “We must also give great credit to his coaches. Before, he was a player who hit the ball very hard, but now he’s added elements like coming to the net, changing the pace with a sliced backhand, or more frequently going for the baseline. The coaches deserve a lot of credit in this regard.”
Ferrero, however, emphasized that nothing has been decided regarding his future at this time: “Competition calls to me. Right now, I don’t have anything set in stone, to be honest. I’ll only return if I’m presented with something that truly excites me; otherwise, I’ll go back to enjoying my quiet life at the Academy.”
