Inter is considering the Romano deal: its relationship with Cagliari is also a key factor

Inter continues to closely monitor Romano’s progress. According to reports, Inter was the first club in Italy to reach out to both Cagliari and the midfielder’s representatives, expressing concrete interest in his future.
One factor that could work in the Milan-based club’s favor is the excellent relationship between Inter and Cagliari, which has been strengthened over the years through various transfer deals. The most significant example is that of Nicolò Barella, who moved from the Rossoblù to the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2019, before becoming one of the cornerstones of Inter’s midfield.
This important precedent demonstrates that a channel of communication is already well established between the two management teams, which could facilitate potential discussions regarding Romano as well. Of course, good relations do not guarantee a fast track, especially when faced with financially substantial offers from other clubs.
For now, Inter seems intent on focusing primarily on the summer transfer window. Dario Baccin and Inter’s transfer team want to first clarify the situations involving Hakan Calhanoglu and Aleksandar Stankovic—two players whose futures could influence the club’s midfield decisions for next season.
However, competition from Juventus risks speeding up the process. Inter is monitoring the situation, maintaining contact, and evaluating its next moves, aware that the relationship built over the years with Cagliari could prove useful in the race to sign the young midfielder.
