Competition is coming from England for Juventus and Roma, who continue to closely monitor Issa Doumbia, a 2003-born midfielder for Sporting Lisbon. The former Venezia player’s performances have also caught the attention of Newcastle and Brentford, who are ready to join the race for the young Italian talent.

According to reports from the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the two Premier League clubs have set their sights on Doumbia, who has shown significant growth since leaving Italy to move to Portugal. The midfielder is carving out an increasingly significant role at Sporting Lisbon, making his mark even in the Champions League, where he scored his first goal in the match against Lens.

His performances have not gone unnoticed in Serie A either. Roma had already been tracking him during his time at Venezia, when the player was competing in Serie B, but Sporting managed to beat the Giallorossi to the punch by closing the deal for 20 million euros plus bonuses. More recently, however, Juventus has shown interest, reportedly including Doumbia among the young Italian players they are monitoring to strengthen their midfield.

The entry of Newcastle and Brentford, however, risks complicating the plans of the two Italian clubs, which will have to contend with increasingly fierce competition. Sporting Lisbon, for its part, has no reason to rush a potential sale, given the investment made to acquire the player and the progress he has shown in recent months.

No specific transfer fee has been set at this time, but the 20 million euros plus bonuses spent by the Portuguese club serve as an important starting point. Juventus and Roma are waiting on the sidelines, aware that interest from the Premier League could make it even more difficult to bring Doumbia back to Italy.
