A Frustrated Nico Mannion Penalized by the Disciplinary Committee

Clearly frustrated by BC Roma’s result in the game against Venice, Nico Mannion decided to insult a referee as he left the court. The point guard’s remarks did not go unnoticed and were sanctioned by the Sports Judge.
Below is the official statement from the FIP: “NICCOLÒ MANNION (BC ROMA S.P.Q.R. player). The player has been suspended for one game because, at the end of the game, he protested the referees’ decisions, directing an offensive remark at the second referee [Art. 32,1a RG, Art. 33,1/1b RG, Art. 21,5a RG].”
Mannion was the only player sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee in the fourth round of the league. Three clubs, however, were penalized: Scafati, Tortona, and Napoli. The fine imposed on the Gialloblu was particularly steep—a whopping 50,000 euros—for failing to comply with the regulations regarding roster composition.
Here is the official statement: “LONGOBARDI SCAFATI. A fine of 50,000.00 euros because, after notifying the FIP via email on October 8, 2026, of the switch from the 5+5 format to the 6+6 format, the team listed only five Italian-trained players on the game sheet, failing to meet the minimum number of Italian-trained players required to be listed. The game is ratified with the result achieved on the court, as it is more favorable to the opposing team, Costa Bologna [Art. 13.4, paragraph 2, DOA].”
In Naples, they will have to pay 1,200 euros “for collective and sporadic insults and threats from the crowd toward the referees”; in Tortona, they will have to pay 600 euros “for collective and sporadic insults from the crowd toward the referees”.
