Monza: A New Look for the Forti e Liberi Sports Center Following Renovations

The Forti e Liberi sports center on Viale Cesare Battisti was officially opened following a renovation project costing over 800,000 euros, funded by the City of Monza and the Forti e Liberi 1878 sports club, which operates the facility.
The renovations covered various areas: from the replacement of the roof to maintenance of the track and field, including the parquet flooring in the basketball arena, the installation of 499 new seats, and upgrades to the electrical and fire safety systems. Furthermore, on the track, 26 halogen lights were replaced with 22 LED floodlights, with the goal of reducing energy consumption. Particular attention was also paid to accessibility.
Sports Councilor Viviana Guidetti, who attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, noted that over the past four years, the city has invested approximately 15 million euros in the city’s sports facilities. “With the renovation of Forti e Liberi, we are continuing this journey, giving the city back a more functional, safe, and accessible facility,” she stated.
Andrea Conti, president of Forti e Liberi, was also pleased and emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration: “The result of this partnership has shown that by combining ideas and efforts, we can achieve tangible results in a short time.” He then looked to the future: “Today marks the beginning of a new era that, we hope, will achieve the same results as those attained over nearly 150 years of history.”
Monza Mayor Paolo Pilotto, who also spoke at the inauguration, concluded by highlighting the significance of sports in the city: “In Monza, there are over 20,000 people registered and active in sports clubs—about one-sixth of the population.” According to the mayor, this figure confirms the importance of investing in the quality and functionality of the facilities available to the community.
