ICW La Numero Uno: Women’s Wrestling Takes Center Stage Again

In a sport where women have had to fight for their place, recognition, and visibility, there are those who have decided to bet on them by dedicating an entire event to them. This is the choice made by Italian Championship Wrestling, which on Saturday, October 24, returns with ICW La Numero Uno 2026 – La Notte delle Amazzoni, an event entirely dedicated to women’s wrestling, scheduled to take place at the Comun Nuovo Sports Center in the province of Bergamo.
A significant return: ICW organized the first editions of La Numero Uno in 2021 and 2022, employing a format that is still relatively uncommon on the international scene. After four years, the Italian promotion is relaunching the project with a new event that highlights the talent, athleticism, and personality of the female wrestlers, offering them a stage entirely dedicated to them.
ICW stands out on the national scene precisely because of this choice: it is the only Italian organization to promote exclusively women’s wrestling events, at least among the initiatives known to the federation. This initiative fits into a global context where shows reserved exclusively for female athletes remain relatively rare, with one notable exception in Japan, where several federations specialize in women’s wrestling, also known as joshi puroresu.
Wrestling is a discipline that combines athletic training, technique, performance skills, and live storytelling. The athletes train to develop strength, endurance, coordination, and in-ring skills, creating matches in which every move helps build a story and engage the audience.
With “La Numero Uno,” the ICW aims to offer its female stars the opportunity to express themselves in a setting designed entirely for them: not just a brief interlude within a predominantly male show, but an evening where women take center stage.
The initiative also aims to highlight the diversity of Italian women’s wrestling, which brings together established athletes, veterans with extensive national and international experience, and promising newcomers eager to make their mark. It’s an opportunity to showcase a sport that is still relatively unknown to the general public but one that embodies determination, ambition, competitiveness, and the ability to push beyond one’s limits.
The highlight of the evening will be the tournament to award the La Numero Uno 2026 Cup, with eight wrestlers ready to compete for the symbolic title of number one in Italian women’s wrestling.
Among the announced stars is Queen Maya from Lodi, one of the most prominent athletes on the national scene, an eight-time Italian Champion and winner of international titles. Throughout her career, she has competed in rings across Italy and abroad, even participating in the prestigious Japanese 5 Star Grand Prix tournament organized by the STARDOM federation.
Joining her will be a group of opponents with very different backgrounds and personalities. Miss Monica from Pescara, known as The Italian Bombshell, has built an international career and has also wrestled in the WWE. Lara Wild from Piacenza, “The Valkyrie,” is a veteran of previous editions of the tournament, while Emily Ramirez from Rome, “The Black Priestess,” returns to La Numero Uno as one of the favorites, following dominant performances in recent years.
The competition will also put the spotlight on Eden from Milan, a former Italian Champion; Domiziana Roy from Vercelli, a fashion designer who brings her passion for the world of high fashion into the ring; Lydia Rex from Pavia, a young athlete who has already competed in a match for the Italian Women’s Title, and Bina from Egypt, who builds her stage persona around the figure of Queen Nefertiti.
In an extra-tournament match, other athletes will also be in action, such as Viola Valietti from Brescia, known as the “Shark of the Ring”; Ziva from Novara, who is making her wrestling debut after a career on the soccer field; and Egothika from Pavia – “The Knightmare,” a character evoking dark, medieval atmospheres.
This variety of styles, experiences, and personalities also reflects the unique nature of wrestling: a spectator sport in which physical conditioning and athletic ability intertwine with the creation of recognizable characters and stories capable of engaging the audience.
In 2021 and 2022, the ICW chose to invest in a format that was then unusual for Italy. Today, with the return of La Numero Uno, the federation is renewing that commitment: to give visibility to female athletes, highlight the journeys of established professionals, and offer new opportunities to those just starting to build their careers.
The goal is also to introduce wrestling to people who don’t normally follow the sport, including readers and viewers interested in the stories of women who put themselves to the test in a physically demanding and competitive environment.
For one night, the ring will be all theirs. And in the end, only one will win the trophy and become The Number One.
