There were moments of high tension on the field for Federico Gatti during the Europa League match between Juventus and Rennes. In the 20th minute, the Juventus center back was booked after elbowing Rennes goalkeeper Samba just as he was about to clear the ball.

The referee intervened immediately and showed Gatti a yellow card, but Gatti refused to accept the decision and protested vehemently, shouting, “For what? For what?” Gatti took a big risk, and Kolo Muani and Woltemade managed to pull him away to prevent a sensational ejection just a few minutes into the game.

Gatti was then substituted in the second half and left the field visibly agitated. On social media, his behavior didn’t go unnoticed by fans, who were also angry about his performance on the field: “I love cats but I hate Gatti,” “Gatti on defense doing everything except defend,” “Gatti needs to switch positions. Or team,” “Gatti is as confused as the club and the team,” “Gatti is a real phenomenon—a foul on the goalkeeper that earned him a yellow card, and he risks a double suspension for protests. Genius,” are some of the publishable comments.

Juventus drew 2-2 with Rennes, and had a goal by Lucumì disallowed in the final minutes of the match for offside.
