Sofia Goggia gets right to the point: “Dismayed and concerned”

Sofia Goggia spoke out about what happened last weekend in Milan in an interview with RTL 102.5: “I’m quite dismayed by this situation; I understand that people have the right to protest, but the destruction of stores is unacceptable.”
The Italian skier does not condone what happened in Milan: “Just think—these acts of vandalism are being carried out by people driving cars, for example, that belong to others who are struggling to pay a lease or a mortgage, perhaps with a family to support… I don’t think that’s right, and I’m also worried because these protests are happening all over Europe.”
“The situation in the south is also tragic,” the ski champion continued, “but there’s a difference between the violent vandals in Milan and truck drivers who protest with dignity.”
The Italian skier will skip her season debut in Sölden and is instead firmly setting her sights on the giant slalom in Killington, U.S., scheduled for November 28. Her first downhill race of the season will be in Beaver Creek on December 11. “I’m on the mend; I’ll have to keep taking some medication, but I’m on the right track. The goal is to make it to the North American tour feeling well,” she explained to *La Gazzetta dello Sport*.
