Spain’s captain, David Ferrer, has announced the preliminary roster for the Spanish team ahead of the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, scheduled to take place in one month.

The Spanish team remains the one to beat and is the heavy favorite to take the title from Italy after three years of dominance by the Azzurri. Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Jodar are the two main singles players: the champion from Murcia is slowly regaining his top form after a long hiatus due to a wrist injury. Joining him is the young rising star who is on the verge of breaking into the Top 10.

The third singles player is Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who is in great form following his victory at the Shanghai Masters 1000. The doubles should be entrusted to specialists Pedro Martínez and Marcel Granollers, while Daniel Mérida—who was instrumental in the last round against Chile—has been left out, at least for now.

Spain’s roster:

Rafael Jódar
