Hit by a truck: Cyclist dies in Bordighera

A serious accident resulted in the death of a 64-year-old German tourist in the Madonna della Ruota area of Bordighera (province of Imperia, Liguria). The man was reportedly struck by a truck on a stretch of Via Aurelia; traffic was immediately halted in both directions.
The tourist was accompanied by his wife; the woman, who was also riding a bicycle, was unharmed. Preliminary investigations suggest that the cyclist was traveling from Bordighera toward Sanremo: after being struck by a heavy vehicle, the man lost his balance and fell onto the sidewalk, hitting his head violently.
The 118 emergency medical team responded promptly, but there was nothing they could do for the 64-year-old man. Local police, traffic police, and the Carabinieri arrived on the scene to reconstruct the circumstances of the accident. A drone belonging to the force was also used to conduct a thorough investigation.
